Ncmo's
NCMO's
For those who are not familiar with the term "NCMO" quite yet, well it's time to get familiar because you will hear the term very often! NCMO stands for Non Committal make out aka just making out with a guy even though you aren't dating.
How to tell of a guy really likes you
-do not kiss him until the third date. If he really likes you he'll respect that and work hard for the kiss. if he's just in it for the action he'll give up and find a girl who will give him what he wants
-of course physical attraction is important but if all you do is kiss it could be a red flag. A good tip I've heard is try going a week without kissing. If you still love spending time with each other great! If not it's time to reevaluate
-does he incorporate you into his life? If he's not introducing you to his family and friends he's not planning on you staying in his life.
-Ncmo's don't seem like a big deal but life is so much better without them. I don't think it makes you a bad person. I just think it creates so many problems AND lowers your self esteem. Living in Provo you see the same people over and over. I've ruined many great potential friendships by kissing the guy and it not working out.
-so say you're with a guy and you know what's coming next. Here's some ideas to avoid kissing. Remember the longer you make the guy wait the more he wants it! (within reason; wait weeks not years!)
*dont watch movies!
*dont hang out past 12
*dont be alone
*keep distance
-Don't let the guy run your life! Be the one that is hard to hang out with, but dont be so unavailable that he just stops trying! Being ready to hang out with him 24/7 makes him know he can just call you when he "wants some." Make him realize you are more than just a girl to kiss. I know that when I have not been available every time whenever HE wants to hang out that I have found better success with a relationship rather than just being the "NCMO girl."
-honestly the best advice I can give is to use your intuition. I'm a big believer of gut feelings and always following them. You know what's best for you. You can ALWAYS tell if you're not being treated right, it's just so easy to justify everything. If something about the guys doesn't sit right with you don't brush it off. Bette to be alone then in bad company! Life's too short to spend time with people who don't see your worth and you deserve the best!

Dating tips
a few dating tips:::
*a lot of girls feel insignificant in provo. there are cute girls everywhere you look. remember that just because someone else is pretty it doesn't make you any prettier or uglier. so if changing how you look isn't the answer how do you get noticed....
*to get noticed you need to stand out. you need to have something that's rare and makes you memorable. what is that..it's confidence! if you accept yourself and love yourself people notice. it gives you a certain presence that people love being around. when you're not concentrating on how your makeup looks or what to say next you can focus your attention on the other person and make them feel important.
*do NOT kiss until the guy works for it!! this is so important and can be so hard. if the guy doesn't work for it he'll 9 out of ten times move onto another girl in a few weeks. you're a prize...make him work for it!! the things that are most worth it are the hardest to get
*to make the first kiss happen consider the following: think of your dream kiss...you can make it happen! Say you want to kiss under the stars. Call your boy and tell him to not make plans on a Friday night. Say you have a fun idea. Go to the park with an ice cream container and spoons, and watch the sunset. Stars come out..and you have your perfect setting. See how you do that? Now for the kiss: have Chapstick and gum with you. Smell good but not overwhelming. For soft lips, put Vaseline on your lips the night before and exfoliate them with a toothbrush. Now all you have to do is make sure you guys are close(to break the touch barrier just offer him a back massage!). Let's the conversation stop naturally, look into his eyes (ya scary but just do it!) and lean in. It doesn't really matter who actually goes for it but try to let him go the last 10%

lets DANCE
One thing about provo that's a fact: there is never a shortage of dance parties! Even if you don't like dancing it's a great way to meet new people and

Fun date ideas!
Comedy sportz is hilarious!!! It's an improv show that is good clean humor. It costs only $8 per person. Not bad! It's located on main street in Provo (very close to BYU).
Provo Beach Resort is such a fun place! There are soo many things to do there and it's pretty cheap. There is a ropes course, miniature croquet, bowling, and so much more! It's a whole lot of fun, especially for a group date!
Visit temple square! It's gorgeous, spiritual, and FREE! It's a great group date idea. We went their a few times. It's especially pretty around Christmas time, but just dont forget to bundle up!
Ice skating! We went ice skating once or twice. Hailey actually went ice skating on a date once, and fell and scraped her knee. (She literally fell for him! No pun intended...) Peaks ice arena is cheap, not too far away, and is a great time! And if you are really having fun, its great to hold hands while you skate around!
Ahh, Squaw Peak. If you haven't heard about squaw peak yet, trust us, you will. It's the infamous place people go to make out. It has an amazing view as you see above. If a boy asks you out on a date to Squaw Peak, DONT GO. Unless you're into kissing on the first date. (;

If you're bored... HAVE A BONFIRE!
There have been many nights where we weren't sure what we should do to have fun, so we would spontaneously go up into Provo canyon and build a fire! It was a cheap way to have fun. Most of the boys you meet in Provo are Eagle scouts, or at least have gone camping a billion times in their lives. So bring them along! They always argue on how the best way to make the fire is, but that's okay, the job still gets done. Make sure you bring your own materials like paper and such so you can get the fire going. And please oh please do NOT forget a lighter... That complicates things. We always had fun getting to know each other each time we decided to adventure into the canyon for our firey fun! We played games like hide and seek (which was surprisingly fun!), truth or dare (always a good one), and just told many funny stories.

If you're bored... GO TO THE HOT SPRINGS!
Once, we spontaneously decided after a football game that we wanted to go to the Hot Springs in Spanish Fork. It was a little bit of a drive to the edge of the hike, but it is well worth it! It is also a 2.5 mile hike. We didn't think the hike would take that long, but it takes longer than you think! (Maybe we just were really eager to get there!) But it's super fun!! Our advice: don't go super late at night like we did, it makes it harder to hike because you have to be more cautious. We think the best time to go would be around 7 o clock because it gives you time to hike, enjoy the sunset in the fun hot springs for a few hours, and then hike back in the evening!
What we think you should bring:
-A swimsuit that isn't your favorite swim suit! The sulfuric smell from the hot springs takes a while to get rid of!
-flashlights for the walk back
-towels
-shoes that you dont mind hiking in
-maybe shoes you wouldn't mind wearing in the water (flip flops are really fine)
-a bag for all your stuff
-a camera to capture your fun adventures!

SCHOOL...it must come first!
Now doesn't it seem like we're having fun?! Well even though we are making class time fun... It is more important for you to take notes and pay attention! (Not our forte as you can tell..)
Here are some tips on how to get the grades you need to survive BYU:
#1 Our number one advice... GO TO TEST REVIEWS. 90% of the time, the person who is holding the review has already seen the test; therefore, they TRULY know what you need to study
#2 Study with others! Make a study group with people in your class. Often, they catch something that you didn't that may be important for the tests. Also, just talking out loud about the subject really helps you memorize the information!#3 GO TO CLASS! Most of the information that will be on the test doesn't come from that expensive book that you are required to buy, it usually comes from the lectures from your professor.
#4 Make tricks to remembering facts. Cheers, acronyms, songs, whatever works for you! It makes it easier to study and makes studying more enjoyable!
#5 READ READ READ! There is almost always questions on your test referring to the readings that your teacher asks you to do. So if you do the readings, you already have easy questions ahead of you.
Those are our top 5 tips to surviving class! But always remember this...
FINISH YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU PARTY ALL NIGHT!
No one wants the homework assignment weighing down on you while you trying to have fun, and you dont want to be up till 6 am writing a 5 page paper that could of been written hours before the fun even began! (Not saying we have done this or anything..)
If you're bored... go camping!
There are always billions of things to do while at BYU, but sometimes you just need to get away from the city and go camping for a weekend! We had so much fun camping. The weather is great and the time spent together is always fun! We always came prepared with plenty of hot dogs and smores. We had two separate campsites, one for the boys and one for the girls. (We keep it clean!!) There are many great campsites in the Provo Canyon. Most are even free! Its great to get away from the noise of the world and just get to know each other and have a great time. We always packed funny footie pajamas to make it silly and fun, and played fun games like truth or dare. We even told funny stories while looking up at the beautiful night sky. There are so many fun adventures you can do while camping!
Tips on how to camp the right way:
-Go ahead of time and have your tents set up. Keeps you from having to try and put it up in the dark.
-Girls, bring make up wipes so you can keep your face clean and you can have a fresh look in the morning.
-Bring toilet paper just in case nature truly calls!
-Pack yummy food like hot dogs and smores. A true camping experience.
-Don't forget bottled water!! Must need, especially for brushing your teeth and what not.
-Don't forget pillows and blankets so you don't have a rocky sleeping experience.
-Try and reserve campsites before you decide to go... makes it a whole lot easier to camp!
-HAVE A GOOD TIME! But always remember, keep it clean! We are BYU students after all.

about us...CAM & HAI
Cami & Hailey. Best friends since June 20, 2011.
We liked to lay in the grass and look at the stars together.
When we signed up for housing in the dorms of BYU, we picked random people to be our roommates, and magically were assigned to be roommates. It was meant to be! We instantly became best friends. Our first fun adventure together included $7 binoculars that we bought from Shopko. Of course we bought them to spy on the hotties walking passed our dorm every day. With our spunky personalities, we always love spontaneous adventures like pudding slides and camping trips. We don't only have a grand party all day every day, but we do make the best out of every day. We are happy, positive girls who just love to have fun. Most people go to BYU wondering how to have a fun time, so we decided why not have a survival guide to those who are trying to figure out what to do in this little bubble called Provo. So if you are ready to balance out school work, social events, and the dating scene, then stay tuned because we have the right steps for you to survive BYU.

break up guide for girls
I don't know of anyone who has made it through college without going through a breakup. Just because they're common though doesn't mean they're easy!! Here are some ideas to help make it easier
*This quote puts things in perspective so much!... "Watching you walk out of my life hasn't made me bitter or cynical about love, but rather, it has shown me that if I wanted so badly to be with the wrong person, how beautiful it will be when the right one comes along."
*make yourself a breakup survival kit. In it keep tissues, chick flicks, a list of why you're amazing (written by you and people you love), $10 to go buy yourself something (jewelry, gum, silly putty, makeup..), a breakup cd, a funny book, comforting scriptures, pictures of you with people you love, you're favorite lotion, a pep talk letter written to you from you, a list of girls you look up to that have had breakups. they know how you feel and it helps to know your not alone. print and cut out some quotes about breakups and also include some inspirational ones!
*clean out your life. you need a fresh, clean start and the first step is cleaning out your living space and getting rid of old reminders. Put fresh flowers in your room and open the windows. Spray a lavender room scent... mmm doesn't that feel better??
*spend time in nature. don't isolate! go on walks in the evening and watch the sunset. Go swimming. Ride your bike. Go on a hike. Read a book in the park!
*let yourself be sad! It's devastating when someone you loved is suddenly out of your life. You miss them and you go through a grieving process that's very similar to the grieving over a death. Cry as much as you need for a few days. Remember the good times and miss it. Cry over the bad times and how much it hurt.
*this is my favorite part after a breakup. It turns all the pain into something good. I call it the 'revenge plan'. Not the kind of revenge where you beat up his car. We're going to be the bigger person! Revenge doesn't have to be bad. The best revenge is to live a happy life. Wether you are mad at your ex or you just miss him this will help. What you do is make a list of every way you want to improve yourself. Try to focus more internally than on the outside appearance. Here's an example list:
-spend 20 minutes a day on spiritual things
-move for an hour a day (walk, hike, swim, dance, clean, play tennis)
-wash face every night..no sleeping in makeup!!!
-volunteer at the day care once every week
-every day try to make one person feel like a million bucks
-get 8 hours of sleep
-spend more time laughing and less time zoning out in front of a computer
-spend more time with your girlfriends and work on meeting some new friends
Why this helps so much is you improve your confidence, shows your ex that he lost a great catch and it makes you that much better for the next guy that falls for you.
*remember that just because you miss someone, it doesn't mean they should be a part of your life. Learn the lesson you needed to learn and move on. You're leaving something good behind for something better

rope swing!
The Mona Rope Swing is in Mona, Utah... about a 45 minute drive south of Provo.
There are two different rope swings at the pond, a tall one and a short one. If you want to stay overnight there are some great camping spots!
directions:: Mona is located about 35 miles south of Provo. To get there, go south on I-15 and take the Mona exit, number 233. Turn right (west) after getting off the freeway and then turn left at the first stop sign in town. Follow this road south for 1.7 miles (at first you you won’t be able to see the ponds themselves too well, but eventually you’ll see the trees surrounding the ponds) and turn right onto a small road. This will lead you straight to the ponds. Park and follow the obvious gravel path that skirts the bank of the pond. You’ll come to the first rope swing in less than a minute.
